When is the best time to buy a flat screen TV?

I am looking to add a TV in my bedroom and was wondering when I should make the purchase to get the best deal. I noticed on the yahoo home page "black friday" sales have already started. Should I buy one now or wait until after christmas. Also, I want one to hang on the wall, so which is the best to get . . . LCD or plasma? thanks.
