Is it safe to have a Large Flat Screen HDTV in an Apartment?

I just bought a $1500 HDTV and i live in a small apartment. I really wanted the TV but i got a little concerned since the maintence crew at the apartment complex walk in to your Apartment while your at work to do inspections and test fire alarms. What is to keep one of the guys that is doing the inspections from just walking in and stealing everything from you? Has anyone had this happen? I get concerned about that.
