If i have a normal tv (not flat screen, HDTV, or anything like that) can I still get blu-ray features?

I just bought a Sony Ps3 and I got a movie with it. The movie is blu-ray. I have a normal TV. I was just wondering if the movie will just be like a normal DVD or will it be better? (keep in mind that i have a normal tv) i hope someone can help me...
